The Aftermath of....the Aftermath.

I re-recorded (that's two re's, if you're counting)the Aftermath, and I thought that I may as well post it here. This version is a little more layered than the last one, and features my lovely wife, Amber, on piano.

Hopefully I can get to work on another song tonight.....

So...what's next?

I'm trying to figure out what to do next.

I've written enough songs to record a whole album (12 or so), but I don't think that I can do all of those songs justice in my attic. I'm thinking that I might record 5 or 6 of them acoustically, get it mastered, and release an EP of sorts to get me from here to the next stage, which would hopefully be the recording of a full album with a full band.

Keep me in your prayers; I really feel like I have something here, and I want to make the right decisions...

...thanks.

Paradise Lost (and Found!)

It's been a few weeks since I posted a song, so I figured that I'd better go ahead and post this one.

The sound quality is a bit better on this song (compared to the previous songs), but I've still got a ways to go.

Hope you enjoy it.....

Sorry about that...

...I haven't posted anything in about two weeks now. Sorry about that.

I bought a new pre-amp that will allow my recordings to sound alot better, so I'm actually trying to put a little more effort into making the next recording that I post sound...well...sort of good.

stay tuned....

Someone Will Know (But Who?)

Time for another song.

I debated with myself (as I often do for amusement) as to whether or not I should post this one or another, but I finally decided to go ahead and post it. I only recorded it on Saturday, and each part was done in one take, so consider this as a rough draft.

Behold:

Smile

Today I'm posting a song called "Smile", which I wrote for my wife when she was going through a particularly rough time a little while back.

This track features the fantastical bass stylings of my brother, Jon. It's also a little more bouncy and fun than the other two that I've posted thus far, BUT DON'T LET THAT FOOL YOU!

Happy Trails!

The Aftermath

It's a new week, so I'm posting another song demo.

This song deals with the fact that, while the world may have been originally created to be a perfect and wonderful place, that we, as a species, are left to face the consequences of what we have brought upon ourselves. Can we make it better, or will we eventually destroy ourselves completely? At least there's a force beyond our control that's holding us all together...

Again...this is rough around the edges...enjoy.

So, I'm working on an album, then....

I know, I know....I haven't updated my blog in a while.

pause.

I know, I know, no one is reading it anyway.

AAR (at any rate), I've been working on an album, tentatively titled, "An illustrated guide to the human condition". I've currently got about 9 songs at various levels of completion, and I've demo'd many of them in my attic. It's been several years since I've written anything, so I'm hoping that I can get some feedback on some of the songs. Therefore, every now and then, I'm going to post one on this blog so that those of you out there who actually do read my blog can check them out and tell me what you think.

Keep in mind....these are rough quality. There are even mistakes. Count them, and let me know how many you find.

Here's the first one. Tell me what you think....

Do you see any similarities here?

Here are two album covers.

The first is for Third Day’s new album, “Revelation”. The second is for Radiohead’s 2003 album, “Hail to the Thief”. See any similarities?

I wonder if this is intentional. The words that make up the “Hail to the Thief” cover seem to point to the gross over-commercialization and depravity of society, while the words on the Third Day cover seem to point to…Christ.

Anyway, I thought this was interesting. Any thoughts?
